Requirements to enroll dependents

Note: You can enroll eligible dependents only during your change of coverage period. You can find more information here.

If you are enrolled in student benefits, you can enroll family members who are dependents. Your dependents could be:

Your spouse (a spouse must be a resident of Canada and either be married to the applicant or qualify as a spouse under Federal Common Law).
Your common-law (you must have cohabitated for at least 12 continuous months to meet the eligibility criteria).
Any dependent child(ren) (child(ren) must be under 21 years of age, or under 25 years old and attending post-secondary full-time, or mentally incapable of self-support).

The coverage for your dependents will stop at the end of the policy year after you are no longer considered a student. This fee is non-refundable.

Coverage and fees

Your dependents' coverage period will be the same as yours, depending on whether you started in the fall or winter.

If your program begins in the fall, your coverage will start on September 1, 2025, and end on August 31, 2026, for both you and your dependents.

Fall coverage: From September 1^st, 2025 to August 31^st, 2026
Winter coverage: From January 1^st, 2026 to August 31^st, 2026

Fees

One Dependent

If you add one dependent to your plan, the total amount due for the fall semester is:

Health - CAN $390.45 per year
Dental - CAN $294.55 per year
Health & Dental - CAN $685.00 per year

Two or More Dependents

If you enroll two or more dependents (a second, third, fourth etc.), the total amount due for the fall semester is:

Health - CAN $780.90 per year
Dental - CAN $589.10 per year
Health & Dental - CAN $1370.00 per year

Note: Dependents are not covered for Critical Illness or Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D).

By submitting this application, you confirm that you have the authority to provide the requested information. You understand that coverage will only be provided if the application is submitted and that the appropriate payment is made by the set deadline. Submission of this application confirms that the individual for whom the application is being processed for is qualified under the definition of spouse or dependent. For this application, a spouse must be a resident of Canada and either married to the applicant or qualify as a spouse under Federal Common Law. It's important to note that you must have cohabitated for at least 12 continuous months to meet the eligibility criteria. A dependant is a child who is a resident of Canada and dependent on the applicant for support. The child must be under 21 years of age, or under 25 years old and attending post-secondary full-time, or mentally incapable of self-support. Coverage for the spouse or dependents will cease at the end of the policy year after you are no longer considered a student. This fee is non-refundable.
