FAQs

I want to use the benefits plan. What do I do?

To access your benefits, you’ll need to register using the StudyWell™ app, available on the App Store and Google Play.

During registration, please ensure you:

  • Enter your name and student ID number exactly as provided to the University.
  • Input your contact information, which will be used for future communication and claims payments.

Once registered, you can download your benefits card directly from the app and keep it saved on your device for future use.

I’m not sure if I qualify for the Health and Dental Insurance Plan.

The easiest way to check your enrollment status is through your BearTracks account. If you have been charged the Health and Dental insurance fee and did not opt out, you are automatically enrolled in the plan.

How can I submit a claim?

You can submit claims directly through the StudyWell™ mobile app. Alternatively, you can share your benefits card with your service provider, and they may be able to submit the claim on your behalf where appropriate.

To access your benefits card and submit a claim:

  1. Open the StudyWell™ mobile app and log in.
  2. Tap My Profile (bottom right corner).
  3. Tap My Benefit Cards.
  4. Your benefits card will appear with all the information needed to submit claims.
What is covered under the plan?

The most detailed and up-to-date information about what’s covered is available on our website. It can be viewed here.

You can also use the mobile app to see:

  • How you’ve used your benefits so far.
  • Your remaining balance across various coverage categories.
What Is a Prior Authorization Drug?

A Prior Authorization (PA) is an approval of coverage from your insurance company. It confirms whether your plan will pay for certain medications before you fill your prescription.

PAs are commonly required for:

  • Specialty prescription medications
  • Drugs requiring medical necessity review
How Do I Know If My Medication Requires PA?
  • If you have not received the prescription before, the easiest way to check if a prescription requires prior authorization is with the StudyWell app. studywellbenefits.onlineclaimsaccess.net/en/login
  • You can also contact StudyWell and we can support you.

How Do I Apply?
  • Step 1 - Confirm PA requirement: Confirm if your medication requires prior authorization by checking the StudyWell App or calling member support.
  • Step 2 - Get the form: Visit the TELUS Health Prior Authorization Forms portal and enter your Carrier #34 and Group #63217 to download the correct form. www.telus.com/en/health/prior-authorization-forms (Note: The availability of a form on the portal does not confirm that the medication is a covered expense under your plan. Please refer to the How Do I Know If My Medication Requires PA? section to confirm coverage before proceeding.)
  • Step 3 - Submit: Your healthcare provider submits the completed form on your behalf before you fill your prescription. The clinical review team will notify you of the within 5–10 business days.

How Long Is My Prior Authorization Valid?

Once approved, your prior authorization lasts for a defined timeframe as determined by your plan and the specific medication criteria.

  • Approval is recorded on your file so that claims will be automatically processed
  • Your approval letter will indicate the specifics and duration your medication is eligible. You will need to reapply when your authorization expires

Important: If a prior authorization is not obtained before receiving a service, your claim may be denied.
